Fork in the Road

It seems we are all in agreement over one thing right now…we have never lived in such divided times and social media only amplifies the bitter sides being taken on just about any subject.
Sides were being taken long before Covid-19, but the voices are getting louder now and the divide clearly deeper as the various platforms offer audiences voice to their strong opinions.
Jesus, on the other hand, is portrayed by most as being gentle, kind, loving and obviously against any kind of division.
But what if I were to offer an opinion that Jesus may, in fact, be allowing the rapidly growing divisions in our world, to separate the wheat from the chaff before His return?
What if the division is His doing?
What if these are the last days and we are all living Jesus’ words from Luke 12:49-56?
“I have come to set the world on fire and how I wish it were already burning…Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other! From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of me, and two against—or two in favor and three against…Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, ‘When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, ‘Here comes a shower.’ And you are right. When the south wind blows, you say, ‘Today will be a scorcher.’ And it is. You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times.’”
Strong words from gentle Jesus, meek and mild.
Any analysis of the present times uncovers unprecedented division in Jesus’ Church.
The Church!
We can understand the world being divided. Out there it is every man for themselves.
But one thing Covid seems to be doing that surprises me is it’s dividing Christians…and as if to highlight the division, current research tells us that 30% of Christians who used to go to Church, or at least watch on line, have decided they are never coming back, even after Covid.
Is it possible that we are living in the divided days Jesus “wished” for in Luke 12:49, because He knew they would usher in His return?
Have we come to a fork in the road for Christians and the great and final division Jesus prophesied in Luke 12 is happening right now?
It looks like we are living in Luke 12:49-54.
We are at the fork in the road.
Which road will you be on when Jesus returns?
